100 Mango Trees
Supporting Mission Green Mumbai’s initiative of upcycling discarded mango kernels, I contributed 100 mango seeds to the mission in the summer of 2021. Many mango seeds were donated from my home and many more were collected with my community outreach of mango kernel collection drives. The eaten mango stones were washed in hot water and dried in the sun until they became as hard as rocks. They were packed and dispatched to Mission Green Mumbai. The kernels are then sent to Maharashtrian farmers for plantation, benefitting the environment and assisting farmers in earning their livelihood. Having continued it this year, I plan on taking forward this practice in the subsequent mango seasons as well.
